Ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls, the Chief Ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan, Tejashwi Yadav, announced Rs 50 lakh insurance cover and pension scheme for panchayat representatives if the INDIA bloc comes to power. In addition to this, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader promised that the allowances for the panchayat members would also be doubled.
“We want to make some announcements. The INDIA bloc, if voted to power, will double the allowances of representatives of Bihar’s panchayati raj system. Pension, Rs 50 lakh insurance cover will be provided for representatives of Bihar’s panchayati raj system,” Yadav noted in his press conference with the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate and the Vikassheel Insaan Party supremo Mukesh Sahani.
In addition to the members of the panchayats, Yadav also made some big announcements for the public distributors in the state. He promised that if the INDIA bloc comes to power, the per-quintal margin money of the distributors will be increased. Furthermore, the barbers and potters will also benefit financially.
“If the INDIA bloc is voted to power, we will also substantially increase the margin money, per quintal, of distributors of the public distribution system (PDS) in the state. Besides, we will provide Rs 5 lakh interest-free loans to barbers, those engaged in the pottery business, and carpenters in the state,” Yadav told the press.
The move will benefit people from communities like Lohar, Kumhar, and several others, as this will provide them with financial independence, believes Yadav.
Earlier, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader announced that the women in the state, who are presently working as ‘Jeevika Didis’ on a contractual basis, will be made permanent if the INDIA alliance is voted to power. He also said that the salaries of these women workers will be Rs 30,000 per month. In addition, the government will also take care of an additional allowance worth Rs 2,000 and an insurance coverage worth Rs 5 lakh.
