A man posing as army officer allegedly raped a doctor in Delhi after deceiving and befriending her through social media. He has been arrested following a police raid in Chhatarpur area.
Aarav Malik, working as a delivery person with Amazon, posed as an Indian Army Lieutenant and deceived a Safdarjung Hospital doctor.
According to officials, Malik befriended the 27-year-old doctor on Instagram and later continued communication with her over WhatsApp.
Between April 30 and September 27, he allegedly posed as an Army officer posted in Kashmir and sent her photographs of himself wearing a military uniform to support his claim. In October, Malik visited the doctor’s residence in the Masjid Moth area, where he reportedly spiked her food and assaulted her before fleeing.
The doctor filed a complaint at the Safdarjung Enclave police station on October 16.
Police subsequently conducted a raid in Chhatarpur and arrested the accused. During questioning, Malik disclosed that he had purchased the Army uniform online from a shop in Delhi Cantonment.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
