Rail traffic across Andhra Pradesh has been severely affected due to the impact of cyclone Montha. As a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety, the South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled 54 train services operating under the Vijayawada Division. Officials announced that several passenger and express trains scheduled to depart from Vijayawada over the next two days have been cancelled.
Train services originating from Rajahmundry, Nidadavolu, Guntur, Kakinada, Tenali, Markapuram, Machilipatnam, Narsapur, Visakhapatnam, Ongole, Bhimavaram, and Macherla have also been suspended.
According to railway authorities, this decision was taken as a precautionary step to prevent any untoward incidents during the severe weather conditions caused by Cyclone Montha. The SCR has also sent SMS alerts to passengers informing them about the cancelled trains.
