Shocking CCTV: Bengaluru domestic help seen throwing dog on lift floor, pet dies

A case of animal cruelty has come to light from Bagaluru in Bengaluru, where a domestic help allegedly killed a pet dog named Goofy.

The incident, which took place on October 31 in an apartment complex, was captured on CCTV footage.

The video shows the accused, identified as Pushpalatha, throwing the dog inside a lift and allegedly subjecting it to brutal violence. Goofy’s owner, Rashi Poojari, later filed a complaint, following which police registered an FIR at the Bagaluru Police Station.

Pushpalatha, who had been working with the family for about one-and-a-half months, has been absconding since the case was registered.

Police have booked her under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which treats intentional harm or killing of animals as a criminal offence punishable with up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine. Officials said the offence allows arrest without a warrant.

A search is underway to trace and arrest the accused.

In another case from June, a woman in Mahadevapura allegedly killed her Labrador and kept its decomposing body hidden in her apartment for days in what appeared to be an occult ritual. The accused, Triparna Paik from West Bengal, was booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the BNS.
