A minor boy died after being hit by a speeding train while filming an Instagram reel at Janakadeipur railway station in Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the boy, a resident of Manglaghat, had accompanied his mother to the Dakshinakali Temple for darshan earlier in the day. The incident occurred when they were returning home.
Witnesses said the boy stood dangerously close to the railway tracks to record a short video on his mobile phone when an approaching train suddenly struck him. The impact of the collision was so severe that he died on the spot.
Railway personnel and local residents rushed to the scene immediately after the accident. Upon receiving information, officials from the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived at the location, recovered the body, and sent it to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred due to the teenager’s carelessness while attempting to film a social media video, disregarding safety warnings near railway lines.
