A young man from Telangana, who had gone to South Africa for work, was found dead under mysterious circumstances, casting a pall of grief over his family on the day of Diwali.
The deceased, identified as Battula Srinivas (32) from Bikkanur mandal headquarters in Kamareddy district, had been working as a borewell machine operator in South Africa for several years. On Sunday, his body was reportedly discovered hanging from a tree behind his residence.
However, Srinivas’s family suspects foul play. After examining photos sent from South Africa, they alleged that Srinivas might have been brutally murdered, and the scene staged to appear as a suicide. “He was not the kind of person to take his own life; this is clearly a case of murder,” the family claimed.
Srinivas had been working in South Africa for nearly five to six years and had returned to India about five months ago before going back. He is survived by his wife Navaneetha, daughter Lasya, son Nihaal, and parents Balaram and Swaroopa.
Meanwhile, local authorities in South Africa are reportedly investigating the incident.
