Gorakhpur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and actor Ravi Kishan has allegedly received a death threat from a man calling from Ara district in Bihar. The threat, according to the MP’s personal secretary, was made over Ravi Kishan’s purported comments on the Yadav community during a recent election campaign in Bihar. The BJP Parliamentarian responded to the threat, saying he is not scared and would continue to follow the path of duty.
The caller, identifying himself as Ajay Kumar Yadav from Jawaniya village in Ara, allegedly contacted the MP’s personal secretary, Shivam Dwivedi, used abusive language and issued an explicit threat.
“Ravi Kishan makes comments about Yadavs, so I will shoot him,” the caller allegedly said.
Dwivedi reportedly clarified that the MP had not made any offensive statement against any community, but the caller grew more aggressive and continued to hurl abuses.
The caller also threatened, “I know about your every move. When you come to Bihar in four days, I will kill you,” and continued using abusive language.
During the call, the man allegedly expressed support for Bhojpuri singer Khesari Lal Yadav’s recent remarks suggesting that a hospital should have been built instead of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
He also used derogatory language towards Lord Ram and the Ayodhya temple, according to Ravi Kishan’s personal secretary.
Following the incident, Ravi Kishan’s staff members, Shivam Dwivedi and Pawan Dubey, lodged a written complaint with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Gorakhpur, demanding increased security for the MP and immediate action against the accused.
Police officials are looking into the matter, and a probe has been initiated.
RAVI KISHAN ‘NOT INTIMIDATED’
Reacting to the threat, Ravi Kishan said he would not be intimidated or deterred.
“I was recently subjected to abusive language over the phone, with indecent remarks made even about my mother. I was threatened with death, and offensive words were uttered against Lord Shri Ram. This is not only a direct assault on my personal dignity but also on the core elements of our faith and Indian culture,” the MP said in a statement on X.
Calling such acts “attempts to spread hatred and anarchy,” he asserted that they would be met through “democratic strength and ideological resolve”.
The Gorakhpur MP added, “I neither fear these threats nor will I bow to them. Walking the path of public service, nationalism, and dharma is not some political strategy for me—it is a resolve of life itself. I will remain steadfast on this path in every circumstance, no matter what price I may have to pay”.
Police officials are yet to confirm whether the caller has been identified or taken into custody.
Security around the MP may be strengthened following the complaint, officials said.
